Cascade Casino, Langley, BC - January 20, 2012
- Minor Hockey A2 Team Fundraiser -

Head Coach Ingo Schubert entered the ring and was announced as, Ingo "The Machine" Schubert!
He won his first Championship fight at age 10, and Friday night was a repeat - another win.
As a fundraiser fight, and as both fighters were from the same club, we were unsure if the fight
would be mild or an uneven matchup - experience vs. youth [Ingo Schubert (51 years old) & Calep Weitzel (33 years old)].
It turned out to be a great fight - both sides brought it to the ring, and the crowd cheered them on.
They were both there to put on a great show, and that is exactly what they accomplished.
Schubert and Weitzel entered the ring, one time teacher and student, but for the next four rounds
they were in opposite corners and opponents. Any question of whether this fight would be easy,
was put to rest in the first few minutes, as each opponent stood toe to toe and traded some heavy hits.
On the ropes, off the ropes, around the ring - it was hit for hit. Schubert's smooth style
flowed as he bobbed, weaved and delivered surgically placed attacks to Calep's mid-section and head.
Calep thundered on - it was fantastic! Calep delivered some hits that shook Ingo too.
A few times in the fight - it was hard to tell which way it would go...
In the end, it turned out to be a perfect matchup, and a great crowd pleaser.
After the final bell, the winner was announced and by split decision 41 years later -
Ingo proved, he's still got that win in him.
Ingo & Calep shook hands after the fight - a new respect for each other
that can only come from being in the ring and giving it your all.
Kevin Enns, Head Coach of the hockey team, put up a good fight, but lost his light heavyweight match to Julian Kim of Port Kells.

Dan Csaszar wins again in Seattle and BCB receives Club of the Year Award!
Dan Csaszar fought Scott Beal from White Center PAL Boxing . They had met before at the Tacoma Golden Gloves.
This time Ingo Schubert changed up Dan's style and had him focus more on power.
The first round was pretty even, but Dan was landing some hard punches and knocked Scott down.
After getting back up to his feet, Scott was given a standing 8 count.
Between rounds Ingo reminded Dan of their plan and when Dan came out of the corner, he knocked Scott down again.
This time Scott was lucky he had the ropes behind him because he was able to sit on them - no 8 count.
During the third round it was important for Dan to use his speed and keep moving - which he did.
Dan was successful and won the fight.
On Friday night, Blue Corner Boxing received the
'COMBSPORT 2010 - OUTSTANDING CLUB OF THE YEAR' Award
(below is a picture of Ingo Schubert with the award).

This means a lot to Ingo Schubert and BCB.
Ingo would like to thank the Association and the President Dave Allison for the Award.
Thanks to Dan and Nick Csaszar.
Dan's great fights and hard work at his training, and Nick stepping up to coach -
it is their contributions that have made
BCB so outstanding.

Dan Csaszar wins against Geoff Bates of North Vancouver's Griffins Boxing Club
This was the first time Dan Csaszar and Geoff Bates had fought in the ring.
Coach Schubert knew that the Griffins fighter would be on the attack, so he prepared Dan with that in mind.
At the first bell, Geoff came out on the attack and Dan tried to step in and stop him with body shots -
there was a lot of clinching.Schubert said, "Dan wasn't looking very energized, his punches were too slow".
Dan won the first round 2:1.
Dan's corner had him change it up for the second round by having him throw more uppercuts.
It was starting to work, but there was still too much holding and clinching.
Dan did come through with some nice punches though. There were a couple times when
Schubert thought that Geoff needed an 8 count, but they weren't given.
Dan won round two 5:2.
Between rounds, Coach Schubert told Dan that he wasn't doing enough, that he was giving Geoff too much room.
Dan followed the game plan and Geoff was at the receiving end of every punch and hook that Dan threw at him.
Dan won the fight 18:4.
After the fight Coach Schubert presented Dan with a plaque, recognizing his 25th win, which took place a few months ago.

BEST OF THE NORTHWEST, Seattle - Dan wins!
Dan Csaszar's 30th fight was a win.
Dan's opponent for this fight was Oregon Champion, William Moarago (sp?).
Dan and William knew each other from the Golden Gloves in Tacoma.
The first round was an excellent technical one from both sides, and at the end of the round
Coach Schubert couldn't tell who had won that round.
In the second round, Dan was slipping back in to his old mistakes and lost the round.
In the third round, Dan knew what he had to do to avoid another loss and kept the pressure on his opponent.
Everytime the other corner thought that Dan's conditioning was running out, Dan pulled out another
combination again and again. William took a standing 8 count in the third round.
At the end of the fight - Dan had another win under his belt.

Four fights and four losses - a tough night for BCB at the Langley Friday Night Fights.
Calep Weitzel stepped in to the ring for the first time on Friday.
Coach Schubert was pleased that Calep took to the fight everything they had planned
while training, and gave it his best. He fought for the entire 3rd round, didn't step back
and kept the pressure on his opponent.
Unfortunately, his opponent Andrew Betory was faster and caught Calep when he dropped his guard.
Calep is looking forward to his next fight on October 9th, and Coach Schubert said that he has
full respect for the 33 year old who is ready to go again.
Yves Schubert went down in the 2nd round. Yves dominated the 1st round
but ran out of steam and couldn't keep up with his opponent Jason Keller, who was 15lbs heavier
and had a longer reach. Yves was struck with a couple of hard punches and went down.
He was smart enough to stay down and took the 10 count. Yves later told Coach Schubert that if he
would have gotten back up, he would have had nothing left to defend himself.
This was Yves first time back in the ring after 6 years away, and after only training for 4 weeks before the fight.
Jake Weitzel once more had the best fight of the night, and again was the Main Event.
Coach Schubert thought that Jake was again roped by the ring Judges; however,
after so many verdicts he considers unfair against Jake, he is impressed that Jake still battles on.
Jake said that as long as he knows that he won against his opponent and that his coach is happy
with his performance, he'll continue to battle on.
Dan Csaszar fought in Seattle on Saturday night and it was apparent that he wasn't ready yet,
after a summer break and 2 months of no boxing.
Dan's timing and speed were off. It shows that even a short disruption in
the training schedule can throw off a seasoned fighter's game.

Dan Csaszar and Jake Weitzel get the crowds to their feet.
Blue Corner Boxing's Daniel Csaszar staged another impressive performance
defeating his opponent from the Queensborough Boxing Club this past weekend
in the Bronze Gloves Invitational Championship.
Csaszar was clearly the fight of the night as the 250 in attendance came to life
with raucous shouts and cheers, as he defeated his opponent 28-14 in a heated series of exchanges.
Csaszar admitted that although happy with the result, “ I gave up too many points to him”.
He said,
” I like to hang & bang but that always gives up to many points to my opponent.”
On the previous weekend, Jake Weitzel, another fighter from the Blue Corner Boxing Club
defeated his Richmond opponent at the Langley Casino Show in an equally entertaining fight
that saw Weitzel handily defeat a determined but less agile opponent.
Just as the Csaszar fight, the room came to life as the two clashed in a spirited match.
When it was all over , Weitzel had scored most often by landing big blows to the body and the head
with a devastating double left hook. As the fight moved through the final round, the referee watched his opponent closely,
ready to stop the match.
The fight ended in a unanimous decision for Weitzel.

Dan Csaszar gives a boxing lesson in Mission.
Dan adds another successful win to his ever growing list of accomplishments.
On Saturday, the Mission City Boxing Club held “Saturday Night Fights IV” at the Leq'u:amel First Nations Community Centre
where Daniel and his opponent Shaun Kroeker were listed as the Co-Main Event of the night.
What was supposed to be an exhibition turned out to be an actual bout.
17-year-old Daniel Csaszar weighed in on Saturday at 166 pounds, while his 30-year-old opponent,
Shaun Kroeker, weighed in at 179, 13 pounds heavier than Daniel. The size difference was noticeable when the
two fighters stood together, but Csaszar proved that skill and conditioning wins over braun.
Csaszar scored a convincing victory over Kroeker, and the audience was entertained as Csaszar
danced around his opponent, while landing punches almost at will. He controlled the pace of the fight
with a “stick and move” style. Kroeker tried to nail Csaszar on the ropes on more than one occasion,
but Csaszar was too fast, and Kroeker found himself face to face with the scoring judges instead.
Coach Ingo Shubert was pleased with the outcome of the fight, saying:
“Daniel works hard at his training and it shows when it comes to Daniel's performance in the ring.
This was Dan's first light heavy weight fight and again he fought a senior.” Schubert went on to say
“He still has more to learn and it will come with time, passion and experience”.
FEBRUARY 2010
Dan Csaszar wins Golden Gloves title in Washington State!
On Feb. 5 & 6th, 2010, Dan competed as a senior in the Washington State Golden Gloves Championships
where he defeated 3 opponents in 3 days, including the two state champions, to win the Golden Gloves title.
JANUARY 2010
Dan Csaszar wins his first official bout in the Senior Men's Class.
Dan Csaszar scored a decisive 26-5 win over Jeff Moore (age 24) of Griffin's Boxing club in North Vancouver.
This was the first time the 17 year old has fought an official bout in the senior men's classes.
November 2009
Dan Csaszar qualifies for the Canadian National Championships to be held February 2010 in Halifax, N.S.

It has been difficult for Coach Schubert to find a BC fighter willing to step in to the ring with 17 year old Dan Csaszar,
and the BC Championships, just held in Kelowna, was not exception.
With no other boxers showing up to fight in Dan's 75Kg weight class, he became Blue Corner Boxing's first
Provincial Champion and will represent BC at the Nationals.

No-shows for Dan & Dave in Seattle, Washington.
The trip across the border to Seattle, for a two day tournament, was a disappointing no-show for Dan Csaszar
& Dave Dimen; however, it turned out to be a great introduction to the sport of boxing.
After the no-shows, schedules were rearranged, and a new fight for Dave was set up
for that day and another bout the following day.
Both boxers were more experienced than Dave and this was his first boxing match ever.
Dave's first round did not go as planned. Nerves and stress took their toll on Dave as his more experienced opponent
took control from the bell. Dave trained hard for what was to be his first bout; however, training and stepping in
the ring are two different worlds. Dave was learning this quickly and took a lot of hits in the first round.
Coach Schubert let him know that if was unable to start his fight in the next round that he would throw in the towel.
One minute in to the second round and Coach Schubert threw in the towel. Dave was taking too many punches
to the head and it was just a matter of time until the referee would have stopped the fight, as he was watching closely already.
Coach Schubert always says that what is practiced in the gym is what needs to be taken to the ring.
Dave learned this the hard way in his first bout. It's all part of the art of boxing – a lot of training and
a sometimes difficult introduction to the ring that every fighter needs to pass through.
Coach Schubert and Dave are training for his next bout.
